Waterloo Blockchain’s

Proof of Work

Our 2023 events, so far.

  • We hosted a 16 people hacker house at ETH Denver in partnership with the Blockchain Acceleration Foundation.

  • Final and largest stop of Binance Academy World Tour with over 100 students in attendance.

  • A 3 day, chain-agnostic hackathon with 38 project submissions and 200+ hackers. Our organization’s first hackathon ever!

  • Throughout our spring semester, we hosted weekly Solidity bootcamp sessions developed by our education team, featuring industry partners to grow our Solidity developer-base.

  • Waterloo Blockchain was a community partner of EthGlobal for EthGlobal Waterloo. Many of our members were volunteers.

  • At Hack the North, our directors mentored, gave workshops, hosted social events, and help more people develop on blockchain!

  • We’ve featured many technologies for workshops so far in 2023! From Protocol Labs who bring you IPFS and Filecoin, to the Graph for on-chain data aggregation, we provide valuable education opportunities to our community.

Our Elite Hackers

  • Xavier started as a team member at Waterloo Blockchain and became the Chief Technology Officer, now taking his talents to Hackathons. Placing first at EthGlobal Waterloo with Token Rescue Buddy, great job Xavier!

  • William is our free-spirited hacker who won the Gold at OlympiHacks, Waterloo Blockchain’s first hackathon. If you’re at an EthGlobal Hackathon, you’ll see William on the stage. He is a 22x hackathon winner across AI and blockchain.

  • Andrew has been very involved in the hackathon space at UWaterloo and beyond. Giving a NEAR workshop at OlympiHacks 2023, Andrew brings extensive experience in fintech, startups, and technical development, having worked with industry-leading companies such as Shopify and Wealthsimple.

  • Amy started out her IRL Hackathon journey at MIT Reality Hacks, where she led her team to build a sync-to-give VR game for charity. That’s where she was picked up by Solana University to participate in the accelerator program where she secured pre-seed funding for her project RWO Studio.
